This autumn we have been trying something new for our less experienced and newly qualified dinghy sailors. All 48 slots sold out within 8 hours of going live and this weekend saw the first of two 4 day sessions where were trying to give them more time on the water without the pressure of joining in club racing. With a support team of 9 experienced racers giving up their time for free they were met with an enthusiastic bunch wanting to get on the water. Saturday and Sunday saw contrasting conditions with a very brisk south westerly on day 1 followed by a gentle east south easterly on day 2. Survival was order of day and not a lot of training on Saturday contrasted with some keen triangular racing on Sunday. Bacon baps rounded off both days and a request that we set up a nursery series of races throughout the winter. Must be doing something right! |
