TCYC members go Autumn Sailing
A number of TCYC members took advantage of the eventual arrival of sunny weather to go for an Autumnal sail. Yesterday (Tuesday) George Rock-Evans and his intrepid crew enjoyed a very fast passage from Teignmouth harbour to Dartmouth. The brisk wind from the North West resulted in a passage time of 1 hour 35 minutes with an average speed of 7.5 knots. (Video curtesy of Sally Grant.) Meanwhile at Coombe Cellars

Busy and Successful Coombe Cellars Work Party
Well over thirty members turned up to help at today's Autumn work party despite the sharp North Easterly wind. Members were split into several groups by our organiser John Ewbank, with teams being dispatched to clear the ditches on the road, clear out the boat store gutters and roof , weed and clean the paved areas etc. The largest team was assigned to bring our extensive hedge under control. Balcony gets a make over
Thanks to Mike Commanders project management the Eastcliff balcony has had a makeover. 30 years of exposure to the had taken their toll but we now have a shiny new balcony that should do us for a few years to come.

Nigel Everett.

Solo Open Meeting 2024
Idyllic Solo Sailing on River Teign Teign Corinthian YC hosted the Solo Open Meeting, part of the Solo Western Area Series, at Coombe Cellars on Saturday 29 th June. Many folk were dubious any sailing would take place as a very light south easterly was forecast. Tally Ho Starts Sea Trials
Back in 2017 a young Englishman, Leo Sampson Goolden, rescued an old abandoned boat called Tally Ho a yacht that had won the Fastenet race back in 1927. He paid $1 for the wrecked gaff cutter, had it transported to Sequim in Washington state, USA.
