Cruisers and Keelboats at TCYC

The Cruisers and Keelboat section of TCYC operates from Teignmouth Harbour and meet socially in Teign Corinthian Yacht Club, Eastcliff Walk, Teignmouth.

On the Teign yachts are moored on deep water swinging moorings and drying fore and aft moorings between the Shaldon bridge and the harbour mouth. Some club members keep their boats in Torbay or on the Dart.

The club has an active cruiser race group that hold races every Wednesday evening and some weekends during the summer months. Most of the boats are moored near Polly Steps and crews meet at around 1730 for Wednesday races but check with individual skippers.

The club owns 2 Cork 1720's that are available to give you an introduction to sailing or as to become a regular crew member. These boats take part in the Wenesday racing click here for further details. On Thursdays are sailed under the "this girl can" banner click here for further details.

There is also a very popular cruising group who have a good mix of nearby and distant cruises.

The river is well dredged and marked as Teignmouth is a commercial port and there is good access at most states of the tide although strong easterly winds combined with an ebb tide can make the harbour entrance dangerous. Visiting yachts should contact the Harbour Commission. Note that there are no walk ashore moorings on the river. The Yacht club welcomes visiting yachtsmen at its Eastcliff Club House which is open on Wednesday and Friday Evenings.
