At the end of 2014 a Wayfarer dinghy was donated to the club. As a trial we will be implementing a new system to manage this boat.

The Wayfarer will be the responsibility of a group of club members (“Team Wayfarer”) who will be able to use the boat when it is not being used for training. The team will be responsible for the care and maintenance of the boat. Note that the Wayfarer cannot be used by club members who are not part of the team. Basically, the members who look after the boat are allowed to sail it.

The Wayfarer is the composite version with glass fibre hull and marine ply decking.  Some work has already been done to free up mast pulley wheels and to deal with minor rust on the trailer. As can be seen in the photo the wooden decking requires some TLC and we intend to give it a durable paint finish. We plan to have the refurbishment completed before the start of the summer season.

This is an excellent route by which members and families can learn about boat ownership whilst being able to use this family-friendly boat.

Bookings will be made via the Coombe Cellars diary on the TCYC website.

We propose to track the progress of the restoration of this boat on the Website.
