Defibrillator Appeal

Coombe Cellars Defibrillator Appeal.

Coombe Cellars is a busy boating centre on River Teign Estuary catering for sailing dinghies, rowing boats, water-skiers, windsurfers and canoes. The Teign Corinthian Yacht Club alone has over 100 cadets in addition to its adult members.

Defibrillators are becoming accepted as an essential backup to the emergency services in the event of a sudden cardiac arrest, particularly in isolated areas where response times are likely to be longer.

The Teign Corinthian Yacht Club has positioned a banner opposite the slipway at Coombe Cellars appealing for donations towards getting a defibrillator. The banner marks the position to be occupied by the defibrillator on the Club railings fully accessible to the Public.

The unit will be obtained through the local charity Teign Heartbeat who has already set up a number of defibrillators in Teignmouth. One of the units positioned outside of the Teign Corinthian Yacht Club at Eastcliff in Teignmouth has already been in action and has saved a life.

Donations can be sent to Teign Heartbeat simply by texting BEAT32 followed by your donation amount, eg BEAT32 £1, to 70070.
