Three young sailors from Teign Corinthian Yacht Club were invited to join in with a days RS Feva Transitional Training at Durleigh Reservoir near Bridgewater on Saturday 7th November.
Maddie Farmer, Joe Manning and Archie Miles from TCYC acquitted themselves well on the water and were warmly welcomed by RS Feva National Squad member Caitlyn Webster and 29er Sailor Izzie Berkley who were both providing one to one coaching on the water in some testing conditions.
The day saw 6 other children from Durleigh and Bristol Corinthian Yacht Club being given some excellent coaching by Senior Instructor Jon Webster, Caitlyn’s father.
All three children from TCYC were very pleased with the day having enjoyed the wind strengths of 15-20 kts. Having had a few disappointing days over the summer with little or no wind it was a joy for them to get out there and really get some boat speed up.
They all improved their confidence using spinnakers and learnt a lot from the days coaching.
The three along with three others from TCYC will be taking part in the South West RS Feva Squad Training taking place at Torquay, Chew Valley and Bristol Corinthian Yacht Club later this season.
