Dinghy Sailing

The dinghy section of Teign Corinthian Yacht Club is based at the club's second clubhouse at Coombe Cellars on the South bank of the Teign Estuary between Shaldon and Newton Abbot. This location provides an ideal location for dinghy sailing. The narrow harbour entrance at Teignmouth means this estuary is almost landlocked and not affected by swells. The estuary is in line with the prevailing winds ensuring exhilarating sailing.

This favourable location means that racing takes place all year round with a total of 270 class race starts during 2010. In addition to club racing the clubs hosts a number of regattas including the youth Two Rivers Regatta and a leg of the Western Traveller Solo Open Meetings.

The site is used as the venue for the RYA dinghy training programmes run by the club. TCYC has close partnerships with local groups to encourage participation in water-based sports. River Teign Sea Scouts have a fleet of boats which are also kept at Coombe Cellars.

The clubhouse at Coombe Cellars has been completely refurbished over the past few years and has a galley and both male and female changing rooms with showers. The Coombe Cellars site has parking available for both cars and dinghies.
